At Bayview Orthodontics, it’s important to us that our patients feel confident and at ease in every step of their smile journey. Here’s what to expect during your free consultation and following visits to our practice.

Yourfirst consultation

This is where we will get to know you and your smile goals. You will meet with our Treatment Coordinator and our Specialist Orthodontist, Dr Sanj Ratneser. Dr Sanj will examine your smile to determine the next best step for you. He will assess whether:

Treatment is required. (In some cases, it may not be.)
Treatment is advisable but should be delayed until a later stage.
Treatment is recommended and would be best to start as soon as possible.

We will give you and your dentist a detailed explanation of our recommended treatment so you can be completely involved in the final decision. We will also inform you of the exact costs at every stage of treatment so you’ll never be surprised by any charges.

Treatment planning appointment

In complex cases, a second consultation may be required. This is a treatment planning appointment with all x-rays and other diagnostic records. This will help us thoroughly craft a completely custom treatment programme for you.

How long will my appointment last?

Most of our appointments last 15 to 30 minutes, although this may be extended if we are fitting your braces for the first time. You may be asked to come in for visits every 6 to 8 weeks depending on your treatment and if any adjustments are necessary.

What kind of diagnostic assessments are needed?

If you need treatment, we’ll ask whether you want diagnostic records performed. These may include photographs, digital models, or x-rays (as needed) to give us a thorough assessment of your smile.

The cost of these are as follows:

Digital photographs: $50(no charge if part of free consultation)
X-rays: We refer you to local Radiology practices that bulk bill x-rays so there is no cost to you.
